Workshops
I have spent the past twelve years working as a freelance arts educator. This has entailed working with a broad section of society covering a wide spectrum of ages, abilities and cultural backgrounds in various community settings such as schools, health centres, residential homes and one off site-specific locations. My role is to provide appropriate stimulating and self-expressive opportunities for clients, via the experience of various art disciplines. My aim is for clients to gain self-confidence, and hence the positive effects of social, physical and mental wellbeing that result in realising their creativity. The work is project based and entails planning, delivery and evaluation, as well as resourcing materials and budget managing.
I have also trained and worked as a primary school teacher and am experienced at planning and delivering lessons in accordance with the national curriculum and specific learning objectives and outcomes. My approach to teaching is very kinetic, I firmly believe that if clients are able to have a real tactile and visual experience via creativity, the desired learning outcome will be firmly cemented into the knowledge of that person. As well as exhibiting my own work regularly, I am a frequent gallery visitor and incorporate this, as well as the background life and philosophies of a given artist into my teaching.
